We had the amazing experience of living in London for over a month last summer, right across the road from this royal residence. I spent many an afternoon walking through this field, looking for places to set up my easel and paint. I loved that at dusk this potential tourist attraction became little more than a backlit, sun-drenched silhouette. Because after all, no matter the size, a home is the shape of the family it holds, a shelter for people who love each other and are making a life together. Titles and status fade away with the setting sun.
This started with a watery acrylic wash for the underpainting, creating a layer of extra richness, and giving the entire painting a deep glow. 14 x 17 original watercolor with mixed media, custom framed in pewter-colored wood moulding. Frame size 23 x 26.
