I was hiking from Kyiv Peak Road down through Rock Canyon with a handful of friends, when this singular red bush took my breath away -- it was glowing as if it were on fire! This is an earlier study for one of my favorite paintings I have ever created. I love the breathtaking color, the peaceful walk through the textured meadow, and the contrasting cliffs behind, with the cascade mountains in the farthest background.
