This was a practice/study I did prior to the larger "Hike to Stewart Falls" painting, using a technique I learned from Chinese master Cheng-Khee Chee, relying on the natural flow of paint on a smooth surface to create texture. 7 x 10 original, mixed watermedia, unframed. I almost abandoned this painting, worried that it wasn't working, then recently resurrected it from my archives and finished it to my satisfaction. The mineral pigments add even more texture and authenticity.
